Fire at Hadleigh House

By June 4, 2020No Comments

There was a major fire at Hadleigh House on Thursday 28 May. The London Fire Brigade attended and evacuated all residents.

Following confirmation from Building Control, Hadleigh House is not available for access and no one must enter the building.

Support for residents

We appreciate that this has been a stressful time for all our residents and are working with the LBTH and THH to support residents.

Residents were provided hotel accommodation and transport. A small number of residents made their own arrangements for alternative accommodation. We are in contact with these residents and if they need us to arrange temporary accommodation in the future, this can be arranged.  Funds were provided as well for families to purchase essential items and meals are provided by the Hotel.

We are working with the LBTH Housing Options to prepare to move households from the hotel accommodation to temporary accommodation in council units and will assist with furnishing vacant properties for families if this is needed whilst works are carried out.

Tenants affected by the fire who need further assistance please call us on the office number on 020 7265 8343 or email us at enquiries@bancrofttmc.org.uk

We continue to be supported by THH. During out of office hours, if required, please contact the THH contact centre  on 020 7364 5015.

Supporting leaseholders

THH are communicating with the leaseholders to keep them updated and to confirm arrangements they will need to make under their building insurance cover.

In the first instance leaseholders have been assisted with hotel accommodated however, are now expected to make their own arrangements for alternative accommodation and for their tenants if they’re subletting.

Leaseholder affected by the fire who need further assistance please contact Gabriel Brown, THH Leasehold Services on: 0207 364 7137 or 07956 506 698.

Next steps

We are waiting for the Fire investigation report. We are also waiting for updates from the London Fire Brigade, Building Control and structural engineers to assess the site before we can report on how long it is likely take to complete works and to get residents back into their homes.

Security arrangements are in place with Heras fencing on the perimeter of the block, ground floor flats front doors being secured and security patrols guarding the site 24/7.

We would like to thank residents and emergency response teams from THH and the Council, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillor Eve McQuillan, Councillor Ahbab Hossain and Paul Davey, THH Director of Transformation for their support.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and the Metropolitan Police for their swift response and for their support to our residents at this difficult time.
